There is nothing more practical than having plastic utensils available when we’re not home. However, instead of throwing out the plastic forks and spoons, you should actually keep them. Believe it or not, but you can use them in many ways. You probably have never thought of using your plastic utensils in your garden but it is quite effective. Here are a few ways to reuse them instead of throwing them out in the garbage.

1. Keep bugs away from your garden

The author of Danger Garden has shared his method. He mentions that by planting plastic utensils in his garden, the majority of animals that used to hang around have finally abandoned his yard and haven’t been in his garden since.

All you need to do is remove the utensils after your plants start appearing. Try to use transparent plastic utensils since they won’t add ugliness to your garden.

2. Label your plants

Plastic forks are the least expensive labeller you can get. Of course, you could buy some in a store but why spend money when you could make some yourself?

3. Build a decorative fence

You can also label your flowers, your bushes as well as other plants in your garden. All you need to do is label the name of your plant on the fork handle. Make sure you write the name with a Sharpie marker.

5. Make garden decorations

Here is a fun and practical way to restore your plastic utensils with kids. Create pretty dragonflies for your garden. To do this you will need: 2L plastic bottles to make the wings (you can add nice details with permanent markers), stick them to the utensils with a hot glue gun and glue a branch under the dragonflies with the hot glue. You can then plant them in your garden.

6. Decorate your grass

If you have a special event, for example, a wedding or anniversary, use some white utensils to decorate your grass. It is an original and really pretty way to add a nice decor to your backyard.
