The Secrets of Longevity

Nobody is better placed to reveal them than the dean of mankind herself, Emma Morano. From its 117 years, it is the last known survivor of the 19th century. In her long life, she knew 3 kings of Italy, as well as 12 Presidents of the Republic.

The first man she had hoped to spend the rest of her life died in during the First World War. Then she fell into the hands of a violent husband, from whom she managed to separate shortly before the Second World War. All her life, Emma lived in Verbania, a small friendly city of Italy. She worked in a jute bag factory until she was 75 years old.

While she was only 20 years old, Emma began to suffer from anemia. The doctors advised him to consume 3 eggs a day, that is to say two raw eggs and one cooked egg. She continued to follow this advice for the rest of her life, despite the reluctance of dieticians, who find that this diet is unsatisfactory. But for nearly a century, this woman has fed on 3 eggs, a small portion of meat for dinner and very few fruits and vegetables. However, in recent years, Emma had replaced meat with cookies to have a lighter meal.

Until she was 115, Emma managed to live by herself and to be autonomous in her own home. However, after that, she could no longer leave her bed and needed a nurse. Somewhat proud, she has always refused to set foot in the hospital. Fortunately, she had a solid sense of humor that kept her cheerful and optimistic.

What is most surprising in the story of Emma Morano is that the secret of her longevity is, in fact, perhaps largely due to her genes. His sister lived until the age of 107 and her mother until 91 years.

Emma is not the only person to have exceeded her life expectancy.
