[Slideshow] Here’s the salary of every governor in the United States

United States governors' salaries range depending on the state, although they hold the same title.

According to the Council of State Governments (CSG), current annual earnings range from $70,000 to $195,000. Most governors are paid about $125,000, but five governors get a five-figure salary.

Currently, out of the 50 governors, 27 are Republicans and 23 are Democrats. While the pay might be pale in comparison with some CEOs, working as a governor can be a great stepping stone in a political career. After all, 17 of the 45 presidents of the United States were governor.

Here are the 50 governors, their salary and party affiliation, listed in alphabetical order by state.
