You probably hesitate to paint or repaint a room in your house or apartment on your own, and with good reason. This is a time-consuming task.
There is however a way to paint your room in a day if you start early and you have the right technique.
Here are some tips that will help you paint the room of your home in one day. You will never see this chore again in the same way!
1. Cover what is left over that won’t need paint.
Protect the floor and any furniture you can not (or do not want) to move. For the floor, cover it with cloth instead of plastic, because the plastic can be smooth under your feet or worse, for the ladder.
Start by cleaning your wall or whatever you are about to paint.
The paint also will not adhere to a dirty surface (think of fingerprints, soot, dust, cobwebs). Use a mop to wash the walls first.
Prepare the borders.
Remove the top of the socket and switch for lighting, and cover areas you do not want to paint, such as moldings, baseboards or window frames, with a blue tape or green ribbon Frog.

2. Skip a step to save you some time.
Generally, to paint a dark wall with a light color (or overlay stains) you need a coat of primer and two coats of paint – and at least six hours of drying time. That’s why GHI recommends Benjamin Moore Aura, a self-priming paint.

3. How to begin.
Now you’re ready to paint: with an inclined brush or a sponge tool, paint a two-inch radius around the edges of the joinery and ceiling, which should be removed. Then, fill the unpainted central space with a paint tray and a roller by making lines in W or M superimposed for a better distribution of the paint.

4. How to wrap.
- Rinse your brush and roll under a tap.
- Put the remaining paint from the tray into the box.
- Tightly seal the can by placing a paper towel on the lid and patting the edges of the lid with a hammer.
- Rinse the tray.
- Once the bristles are completely dry, slide the brush in its original paper wrapper to prevent the hair from stretching or try this trick: bend a piece of thick paper around the hairs and glue the paper .

5. Do not leave any trace.
- Have a damp cloth handy to wipe off the fresh splash.
- Remove the dried drops with a credit card or a plastic spatula.
- Remove the tape before night, by pulling it at an angle, to avoid tearing the finish.
