There are many kinds of carbonated drink mostly known as a soft drink. It is estimated that every day, 1.7 billion coca-cola is served across the world. Whether it’s for experiments or simply to drink.

In addition to consuming this drink, it’s time to realized that this soda drink can also make very fun and amazing experiences.

For a fun family activity, try these 5 scientific experiments to do with a carbonated soft drink.

1. Deep Cleanser

Because of its high level of phosphoric acid, your soft drink can clean a lot of objects. Indeed, take a black penne (you probably still have one missing in the cracks of your couch) or an old nail, and drop it in a glass half-full of Coke. Wait a few minutes. When taking out your penny or nail from your glass, you will see that it will sparkle like never before. All the accumulated dirt will have disappeared. You can also try this experience with a dish stained.

Visual Experiment

Mix a little bit of milk with a coca-cola, leave on for a few hours and go back to the result. You will notice that the acid in the Coke has bound with the proteins contained in the milk. You will not have the same texture and color at all. Amazing!

Lava Lamp

Do you want a lava lamp perfect for your special throwback 70’s night without spending too much money? All you need is a bottle of Coke (the one in glass preferably), vegetable oil and alka-seltzer tablets.

  • Take half a bottle of Coke and fill the rest with oil.
  • Add the tablets.
  • Look at your lamp, it will take shape!

2. Avalanche

In a bottle of cola, add a bit of a cleaner powder to a scoop of pool cleaner containing chlorine. At first, the mixture is just a little lather, but if there is enough chlorine, the mixture will begin to stir in all directions. This is great for kids who would like to reproduce an avalanche for a school project.

A Volcano mix of Coke, Milk and Red Bull

If you mix these three drinks, the coke will react with the energy drink while the milk will curdle. They will eventually combine to form a amazing and gigantic mixture. We suggest you to do this experience in your backyard.
