We’ve all accidentally stained a nice crisp white blouse with some coffee on our way to work. Not only is it unpleasant to burn yourself with a hot beverage but it’s also really infuriating to stain our (white!) clothes. As we all know, sometimes it can be very hard to get a coffee stain out in the washing machine. It’s your lucky day! You can get rid of these stains with a few ingenious tricks. Here’s how to do it.
11. Water
- Rapidly soak the coffee stain in water.
- Gently scrub the stained fabric.
- Repeat as needed.
10. Marseille soap
- Wet the Marseille soap with a small amount of water.
- Scrub it on your stain.
- Wait an hour and rince the garment to get rid of the stain.
9. Glycerol
- Apply tepid glycerol on your coffee stain.
- Rince the stained garment with water and vinegar.
8. Sodium perborate
You can save a stained article of clothing by applying sodium perborate. The stain will dissolve rapidly.
7. 90% alcohol
- Mix 90% alcohol with a small amount of water.

6. Ammonia solution for wool sweaters

- Take one cup hot water and add two tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate.
- Scrub the stain by soaking a washcloth in the mixture.
4. Detergent
- Pour detergent (use a detergent with enzymes if your coffee had milk in it) the stain but let it absorb for a couple of minutes.
- Pour vinegar on it and let the stain absorb it.
- Pour a detergent with enzymes on the stain and let it soak.
- Rince with water and let the stain absorb the liquid until its dry.
3. Vinegar
Mix one part water with one part vinegar and scrub the stained area with the mixture. Wash your garment in the washing machine after.
2. Egg yolk
- Mix an egg yolk with lukewarm water.
- Dip a cotton ball in the egg yolk mixture.
- Tap it on the coffee stain and wait a few minutes.
1. Alcohol and acid
