Picnics are one of those summer activities that seem excellent in theory. Indeed, what could be better than resting on a beautiful lawn, sipping cocktails while nibbling cheese on crackers or a French baguette? But in reality, it can be something quite different. Picnics can quickly become an unpleasant meal on wet grass and an attack by hungry mosquitoes. Yet, living an ideal picnic is as simple as following these easy tricks.
1. Plan single servings
2.
You can prepare individual portions of salads. All you have to do is use plastic cups with lids and insert plastic forks. It’s no more complicated than that!
3. Make delicious sweet bites
Do you or the people accompanying you on your picnic have a sweet tooth? Why not make delicious sweet bites, like chocolate covered strawberries, and transport them in an egg package? You can also prepare healthier bites and transport them in the same type of packaging.
4. Mix your drinks in advance in Masson jars
This will prevent damage and the horrible feeling of finding insects at the bottom of your drink after you’ve consumed most of it.
5. Use tons of rope and paper
Rope and paper can be very handy when you decide to have a picnic. Indeed, these materials can among other things package sandwiches.
6. Save space in your picnic basket
Don’t waste space in your precious picnic basket with ice blocks. Frozen water bottles are perfect for keeping your food cold and you can drink them when they thaw.
7. Here’s how to bring spices to your picnics
Are you the type of person to add salt and pepper to most of your food? Tic Tac boxes are perfect for carrying salt and pepper. You can, of course, transport other kinds of spices in these very practical containers.
8. Stay dry
To stay dry, you can recycle an old shower curtain and install it under your picnic blanket. This ensures that you do not sit on the wet ground, regardless of the weather. Great, isn’t it?
9. Who said a table was necessary for a picnic?
You don’t have a picnic table? Know that you can quite simply use an umbrella as well as a blanket!
10. Carry your condiments easily
To easily transport your condiments during your picnic, recycle an old box and place your condiments in it.
11. Put your glasses and pots on the grass without spilling everything
You have probably noticed that bottles and glasses do not stay straight on grass. Fortunately, if you have a muffin tray, you also have an ingenious drink holder!
12. Bring baby wipes
They’re just about all you’ll need to clean up after the picnic, and you can throw them in the garbage afterwards.
13. Avoid getting dirty with muffin paper moulds
Make sure your popsicle doesn’t drip with a paper muffin pan. This is a good tip to know, especially if you have young children who love these frozen desserts!
14. Create ambiance while keeping mosquitoes away
In a Masson jar filled with water, lemon slices and a sprig of rosemary, add a floating candle and 10 drops of cedar, lavender and lemon essential oil. These candles will add atmosphere to your picnic and keep mosquitoes at bay.
15. Think practical!
16.
Using an old napkin or a nice cloth, sew the individual cutlery together. Your plates will be much easier to transport and you will be less likely to break them.
17. Keep all small foods together
To bring crackers, berries or nuts, or other foods in small sizes, use an old jewelry box! This will save you a ton of zip lock bags.
18. Just as useful in the park as in your child’s room
This children’s tent is simply perfect! It brings atmosphere, adds shade and keeps insects away. Let us bet that your children (and you!) will have as much pleasure to use it during your picnic as in their bedroom.
19. Carry your eggs in their packaging
Carry egg snacks, such as curry eggs, in an egg carton and they will stand intact.
20. Nothing is more unpleasant on a picnic than a sunburn and mosquito bites
You don’t want to come back from your meal with a ton of sunburns and mosquito bites. To avoid these inconveniences, create a box with everything you need to protect your skin. You can, for example, put sunscreen in your box as well as a product made to keep mosquitoes away.
21. Pack your bread carefully
Do you want to eat a baguette outside? Again, use the paper and string to wrap your bread.
22. It is not necessary to bring a bowl for chips
Simply push the bottom of the bag inward, creating a flat base.
