Often, when celebrities start in Hollywood, they are pushed to take on roles or do things that make them uncomfortable. Unfortunately, many of these things can involve nudity. At other times, actors can read an indication in a scenario and imagine it on the screen, but make it appear in a completely different way.
The promise of a big paycheque or certain glory can encourage actors to play scenes they are not sure about.
Let’s take a quick look at 15 iconic film and television scenes in which the actors who participated would have liked to never be involved, including the most famous bare scene in film history.
1. Burt Reynolds in Deliverance
We all remember Burt Reynolds’ iconic waterfall from the 1972 Delivrance movie, where he paddles a canoe over a waterfall. However, Reynolds now regrets having done so, especially since he could have used a dummy doll to put himself in his place. The actor was trying to be a tough guy, so he took the hit himself and broke his coccyx.
In an interview with GQ, Reynolds revealed that he felt stupid and that the use of a mannequin would have saved him a lot of pain and grief.
2. Nicole Kidman’s violent scenes in Big Little Lies
HBO’s Big Little Lies series surprised everyone when it was created in 2017. The series follows several women from a wealthy neighborhood in California and the secrets surrounding them following a murder. Oscar-winning Nicole Kidman played Celeste, a stunning woman, and mother of twins who is brutalized several times by her husband (played by Alexander Skarsgard).
As brutal as these scenes are to watch, they were even worse for Kidman. Although she won a Golden Globe for her work, the Australian-born actress was completely exhausted by the role. She felt humiliated and angry after each scene, and director Jean-Marc Vallée had to put a towel on her head between takes when he realized she was about to lose her mind.
3. Terence Stamp’s scene with Natalie Portman in The Phantom of the Threat
Let’s start by saying that all the Star Wars of the early 2000s were regrettable. The actor Terence Stamp has important regrets about his appearance in the boring Episode 1: Phantom Threat. Apparently, the only reason the older actor wanted to participate in the film was that he was a little in love with Natalie Portman and wanted to meet her.
His hopes were quickly dashed when he arrived on the set, and George Lucas told him to go play with paper instead of Portman. Not only did Stamp describe the experience as “boring”, but he was horrified by the abyssal salary.
4. Maria Schneider’s butter scene in Last Tango In Paris
Before she died in 2011, Maria Schneider spoke of the trauma she suffered during that infamous butter scene with Marlon Brando in Bernardo Bertolucci’s erotic drama Last Tango In Paris in 1972. In the scene, Brando applies butter to Schider’s vaginal area.
Director Bertolucci or Brando never told the actress that the scene was going to happen and she felt they were exploiting it and taking advantage of it. She said it caused her a lot of emotional trauma. Scheider’s words resurfaced in 2017, with the emergence of Time’s Up Movement, where Bertolucci admitted to leaving her in the dark to get a real reaction. That is appalling.
5. The scene of Gordon Ramsay’s shower in Hotel Hell
We all know the British chef Gordan Ramsay for his roles in Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen, but things got a little complicated for the chef when he played in the series Hotel Hell. From his other shows, Hotel Hell followed the chef on his travels across the country to help hotels in difficulty improve their services.
However, the viewers got a little more than they wanted to see when he was filmed stripped and in a small bathtub of the show. No one really wanted to see the reality TV host’s family jewelry. It was so controversial that Ramsay had to issue a statement apologizing for the scene.
6. Dakota Johnson’s BDSM scenes in Fifty Shades of Grey
When E.L. James released his trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey, it became a sensation around the world. Although writing did not really win the Pulitzer Prize, the story of naive Ana Steele and billionaire Christian Grey who fascinated people have something in common. Therefore, when a cinematographic adaptation of the books was announced, everyone was delighted. We should have all saved that energy. After casting and some blunders with the directors, the film finally started with Dakota Johnson as Ana and Jamie Dornan as Christian.

For us, it seems that James Bond leads a rather luxurious life. Who wouldn’t want to play agent 007? Apparently, Sean Connery thought all of this was a pain in the ass. He particularly hated the fact that Bond was a philanthropist who seemed to care about no one. He found Bond very boring and argued with producer Albert R. Broccoli for years about it.

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint grew up together in the Harry Potter film set for a decade, so they are a bit like brother and sister. Therefore, it was rather embarrassing when their characters Hermione and Ron had a romantic relationship.
Grint and Watson share a kiss in Potter’s latest movie. Both actors found the scene atrocious, and they were happy that only one take was enough to do the job.
9. Jim Carrey’s violence in Kick-Ass 2
It is sometimes difficult to separate art from real life. Jim Carrey, actor and gun control advocate, found himself in turmoil after the Sandy Hook tragedy in 2012. The actor had just made some pretty violent scenes in Kick-Ass 2.
He played the role of Colonel Stars and Stripes Carrey and had many scenes that were full of gratuitous violence. He went out to denounce the film and condemned the “level of violence” it contained.
10. Kate Winslet’s nude scene in Titanic
Titanic set Kate Winslet’s Hollywood career on fire and met her best friend Leonardo DiCaprio during the shooting. However, Winslet regrets one thing about his film. She is now disturbed that she has undressed so that Jack, the character of DiCaprio, can paint the character of Naked Rose. He also made some sponsorships with Kellogg’s, where he disguised himself as Superman in public. In a special event, a little boy approached him with a loaded gun because he wanted to check if Superman was really bulletproof.
Reeves was so distraught that he refused to appear as Superman again in public. He also thought it was unwise to depict a bulletproof character and organized visits where he taught children to make sure they knew that no human being was bulletproof.
12. The scene of Sharon Stone crossing her legs in Basic Instinct
Sharon Stone has made a name for herself as Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct. However, it turns out that she regrets the infamous scene where she flashes the camera when she straightens her legs. In fact, Stone claims that she never consented to the scene, and she slapped the director Paul Verhoeven when she first saw the film.
Verhoeven contests Stone’s claim. According to him, he said that he had asked the actress to take off her panties because their white color was interfering with the shooting. We think it is unacceptable that Stone was not explicitly informed of the scene.
13. Jennifer Lawrence’s sex scene in Passengers
Jennifer Lawrence may be an Oscar winner, but her very first sex scene took place in 2016 in Passengers, in front of Chris Pratt. Lawrence spoke openly about how nervous and uncomfortable she felt working on this particular stage with the then married star of Jurassic World. Although she does not regret the scene itself, she regrets what she did before filming it.
To relax, Lawrence decided to get drunk. She told the Hollywood Reporter: “I was really, really drunk. But it made me even more anxious when I came home because I said to myself, “What did I do? I don’t know.”
14. Roger Moore’s scenes with Grace Jones in A View to Kill
When Roger Moore appeared in A View to Kill in 1985, he was 57 years old. So when they paired him in a love scene with the energetic 35-year-old Grace Jones, who played on May 1, Moore was done with it. The Jones character dominated the womanizer and Moore was simply not in the best shape to follow Jones or the demanding scene.
The duo also collided on the set before the shooting because Jones’ rock music prevented Moore from taking his midday nap.
15. Emilia Clarke’s nudity scenes in Game of Thrones
If you like Game of Thrones, you know that this TV series is full of nudity and violence and for Emilia Clarke who plays Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, nudity is not really a problem. She must have appeared naked several times on the show. Her problem is that her parents are GoT fans.
In fact, she forgot to tell her parents to avoid Season 6, Episode 4, “Book of the Stranger”, and instead recommended it and sat down to watch it with them. Needless to say, it was a somewhat embarrassing family evening…
