When summer arrives, we put away our big sweaters and happily take out our shorts, dresses and pretty colourful camisoles. However, we must be careful with summer fashion. Indeed, some pieces of laundry tend to make us look 10 or even 15 years older. Here are 20 clothing mistakes to avoid at all costs!
1. Super short shorts
Even if it’s summer, the super short shorts are incredibly sticky. And in all honesty, these shorts are not advantageous on all silhouettes, and at any age.
2. Several layers of make-up
Applying several coats of make-up requires an extremely experienced hand. Some make-up artists even have difficulty doing it on the same face. Since it’s summer, you’ll tend to sweat more and not necessarily have time to tweak your look. You should also know that your perspiration can settle in each wrinkle of your skin…
3. Clothes that sag
Spring and summer are the perfect seasons to show off your style! It’s hard to do that, though, when you hide in your clothes. To showcase yourself, try to buy tight clothes. This way, you will prevent them from collapsing on you.
4. Colourless
Winter is over and over! It’s time to add some colour to your look. For spring and summer, choose pastel colours. By avoiding colour, you add age to your outfit.
5. Too many accessories
Accessories are a wonderful thing, but not when you abuse them, especially large jewellery. Spring and summer are often considered the seasons to embrace minimalism, so try not to wear too many bracelets, necklaces and rings at once.
6. Animal look
Be careful with the animal look. Animal footprints can be used as a means of affirmation, but they usually age the person who wears them. In case of doubt, it is preferable to avoid them completely.
7. Shapeless dresses
Shapeless dresses can be refreshing on a hot summer day, but they can make you look older. If you like patterned dresses, consider wearing a belt to complete the outfit. This will accentuate your silhouette.
8. Dress according to your morphology
You don’t have to dress according to your morphology. If you are slightly overweight and want to wear tight jeans, wear them! Nothing should stop you from wearing what you want, no matter what the season!
9. Going crazy with floral motifs
The flowers are perfect for spring and summer, but try not to overdo it. Try to limit your flowers on two small accessories or a large piece of laundry. A floral dress can be beautiful with some accessories too.
10. Wearing too few clothes
Just because the temperature warms up doesn’t mean you have to show a lot of skin. When you are outside, try to dress in layers and do not wear a top with a bareback and a miniskirt. It’s not flattering at any age.
11. Choose poorly fitting clothing
The tailor is your best friend. Having tailor-made clothes will allow you to fit your curves and silhouette as well as possible. You will look much younger than before like this.
12. Shoes that hurt
It is possible to be comfortable in something and to be fashionable at the same time. If you want to wear sneakers, try to choose a clean white model from a popular brand. Avoid shoes that hurt your feet at all costs.
13. Grandmother’s glasses
“Grandmother’s” glasses don’t fall off your face, but they are called “grandmother’s” glasses for a reason. Glasses are like any other accessory, even if it is a vision device. The frames that are currently in fashion are rectangular black shapes. It goes without saying that chains are not in vogue.
14. Avoid technical accessories
Your technology can be enhanced like everything else you own. Chances are your phone is often turned off and an elegant case can make you plugged in. You can get cheap or expensive ones that will protect your investment.
15. Using an old bag
You found the perfect handbag a long time ago, but it’s time to change it. If your bag has tears or looks worn, you can get a new one quite easily. For spring and summer, you can adopt the colour and choose a handbag that will be a great piece for many of your outfits.
16. Powdering your face
Powdered makeup is used to settle into the folds of your skin and exacerbate every spot on your face. For drier skin, it is preferable to use cream or liquid make-up. When applying your make-up, use a liquid spray.
17. Avoid the stylist
Spring and summer allow you to lighten your hair to give it a new shiny colour. Even if you don’t want to change your hair colour, you should go to your stylist for a new cut.
18. Do not wear sunscreen
The sun is the enemy of your skin. Although it can give it a pretty and golden appearance, it is at the same time damaging. Over time, age spots may appear on your skin. You can help prevent this by brushing it with sunscreen. After application, give it time to soak and don’t forget to put some sunscreen back on if you go in the water.
19. Opt for the neon look
Let’s just say the neon look doesn’t look good on anyone. This hurts the eye and draws attention to any other defects you may have. It is preferable to avoid wildly bright colours and to opt for pastel colours in spring and summer.
20. False tanning
False tanning is the ideal way to obtain a golden complexion, but unfortunately, the desired results are not always achieved. If you have ever seen someone with orange skin, you know what a bad tan looks like. Instead, opt for a light tan that is only a few shades darker than your original complexion.
