If you live in an apartment and you do not necessarily have the green thumb, you can always decorate your interior with a lovely terrarium. This is an excellent way to add greenery to your home, whether it’s a jar, a lantern, a vase, a teapot or a glass jar. It’s very trendy and super nice! Here’s how to make your own terrarium in a few steps.
What you will need:
- Gardening gloves
- Glass / transparent vase or jar
- Soil, sand or gravel
- A little Helxine foam
- Small potted plants
1. Which container to choose?
To make your terrarium, choose a glass container whose opening is big enough for you to put your plants inside.
Prepare your container.
Put a layer of potting soil at the bottom of the container (fill 1/4 of the container).
Select your plants.
Choose small plants that grow slowly. You can take a fat or moist plant (moss, fern, etc.)

2. Dispatch your plants.
- Take your plant, unfold it and remove the “root felting” so that the roots do not continue to grow.
- Put your plant in the container.
- Fill your potting planter.
Water your plants.
Water your plants with a spray, avoiding too much watering. Too little watering them need also to be avoided. Touch the ground to see if it is wet.
Place your terrarium in the shade.
Terrariums are sensitive to cold. Put them near a window, but in the shade and at room temperature.
