Flies infest faster than anything else. I wanted to ultimately get rid of them in my house, so I listened to my neighbor’s tips and it worked so well.

After trying many products from the stores, flies were still infesting my house. I couldn’t handle it anymore so I reached out to my neighbors. One of them suggested that I should use my son’s nerf gun which I was septic.

Surprisingly, what I used to hate to most became one of my favorite games.

What is mostly known as a kid game has also the availability with just few slight modifications to become an effective pest control apparatus.

Yes. Get rid of flies ultimately with a slightly modified nerf gun!

Start off by grabbing and old nerf gun.

Instructables

If you don’t have nerf gun at home, you can easily find one in the nearby superstore for less than 5 dollars. You will then remove all screw from the toy and be sure to be looking for the ones that might be hidden.

Take a look at the inside of your gun.

It might look a bit different than this one up here, but all nerf gun are built in similar ways. What you need to find is the safety which will always be at the base of the barrel. Carefully remove the air piston and keep disconnecting the pieces until you reach that base. remove the tiny plastic piece that blocks the hole. This lets us load anything.

You can also cut the barrel base out for a bigger hole.

Grab the darts and cut off the tip at a length that’s even with the barrel.

Get yourself a drinking straw or an empty pen and cut it to be slightly longer than the dart. You now need a way to keep the salt in the the straw when it’s loaded, but you don’t want it to block off the air flow.

Use a small piece and curved it to sit inside the straw and then tape it to the top. That way the salt won’t just fall through and when the air comes in, it will simply move up and out of the way.

Insert the straw in the dart.

Now wrap your dart with some tape so that’s it will fit snugly in the barrel and won’t fire out when you pull the trigger.

Extra tip

YouTube

You should transfer some table salt to a small empty bottle that has a nice sized dispenser to allow you to quickly pour out the salt into the dart. This isn’t required but it certainly makes reloading a breeze.

That’s it! Now test it in your backyard first.

You will need to experiment with different amounts of salt to figure out what works best for your gun. Sometimes just a quick pour will be effective enough to swat a fly, but sometimes you’ll need to pack it to the top and launch a devastating payload.

With this gun, the best range is about 2 to 5 feet which definitely beats the range of a traditional flyswatter and gives you the ability to take out your targets from a distance.
