Those you buy at the grocery store are good but they often have ingredients that are bad for your health in them like preservatives and empty calories. Why not make your own popsicles? It’s simple, delicious and it is more affordable than buying some at the store. Here are a few succulent homemade popsicle recipes for you to try. Kids, as well as adults, will love the taste.

  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  •  3 cups of confectioners sugar

  • In a bowl, mix the butter, the sour cream, vanilla, lemon juice and salt;
  • Incorporate the sugar and mix of with an electric mixer until the mixture is homogenous;
  • Pour the mixture into your moulds and freeze overnight.

  • Kiwi is the main ingredient in your dessert;
  • Put your crushed kiwi in the moulds and then crush the watermelon in the electric mixer;
  • Pour the watermelon in the moulds;
  • Place your moulds in the freezer, wait until they’ve frozen and then you can enjoy them!

  • 2 kiwis;
  • 2 peaches;
  • 1 cup of strawberries;
  • ½ cup of raspberries;
  • ½ cup of bilberries;
  • 2 cups apple juice.

Steps:

  • Peel and cut the kiwis and peaches into 1/4 inch slices;
  • Slice the strawberries into thirds;
  • Add the strawberry, kiwi and peach slices to the bottom of each mould;
  • Place a popsicle stick in the mould;
  • Add the bilberries and raspberries to fill in the gaps;
  • Add as much fruit as you can in the moulds, by continuing to press on the sides.

5. Fill the moulds with apple juice

  • Leave around 1/8 inch of space at the top of the mould so the juice can dilate when it freezes;
  • Freeze the frozen treats;
  • When you’ve frozen them for 24 hours, run hot water on the moulds to unstick the popsicles;
  • Enjoy!

6. Blueberry and raspberry popsicles

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt

Steps:

  • With the help of an electric mixer, reduce the raspberries into a purée (the consistency has to be smooth). Put the fruit aside;
  • Do the same thing with the blueberries;
  • Put the yogurt and each fruit purée in small measuring cups with a beak. The goal is to water them down a bit so you can pour them in the moulds easily;
  • Use water to water the yogurt, raspberries and blueberries down;
  • Leave the cups in the fridge when you’re not using them;
  • Start by pouring a little bit of the blueberry mixture at the bottom of the moulds;
  • Put the mould in the freezer and freeze them until the mixture is firm (at least one hour in the freezer).

7. Pour a little bit of yogurt in each mould

  • You will be able to see through the mould to see your recipe’s progression. At this stage, cover the top of the mould with aluminum paper and insert the popsicle sticks. Make sure you insert the sticks properly so they stand straight. Put back the popsicles in the freezer until they are solid;
  • Remove the paper. Then add the raspberry layer, and so on until the whole mould is filled. Make sure you freeze every layer until they are solid before adding the next one. Don’t worry if the layers aren’t perfectly equal;
  • Once filled and completely frozen, you can unmould your popsicles.

8. Avocado and lime popsicles

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup lime uice
  • Zest of 1 lime

Steps:

  • Cut the avocado vertically in half and remove the pit;
  • Remove the inside with the help of a spoon and put it in your blender or electric mixer (at high speed);
  • Add the banana, coconut milk, maple syrup, lime juice, lime zest;
  • Mix until the mixture is homogenous;
  • Pour the mix into the moulds, add the sticks and freeze them for about 6 hours.

9. Strawberry-pineapple popsicles

  • Reduce the pineapple and strawberries into a purée (separately) and transfer both purées in liquid measuring cups with a pouring spout;
  • First, pour the strawberry purée into the moulds. Fill half. And then gently add the pineapple purée.

10. Here is how to create the desired marble effect

  • Since the pineapple purée is denser than the strawberry one, it will shift part of the strawberry purée and create a swirly/marble effect;
  • Place a layer of aluminum paper on the popsicle mould, followed by the lid. Insert popsicle sticks in the moulds and then remove the mould lid, leaving only the paper;
  • Place the filled moulds in the freezer for at least 3 hours until the frozen desserts are completely frozen.
